PLAYBACK OPTIONS
We wanted to preface the discussion of playback options by stating that the whole basis of SPOOLED TV is the High Definition format. This is where our passion and driving force is for this project. It completely separates us from almost all other sport fishing video (and almost any other video period) currently offered on the internet. We feel that this is a unique feature of our project that will appeal to many viewers, especially those who are as starved for HD content as we are! HD offers the visual clarity which allows viewers to feel as if they are included in the fishing adventure.
Computer Playback
As all our episodes are distributed live-streaming via the internet. Many people may not know that most reasonably up to date computers are capable of playing HDTV video content! While the standards are constantly changing as technology advances, a reasonably up to date computer looks something like this:
- Windows XP
- Windows Media Player 9.0 or newer or QuickTime 7.0
- 2.4- 3.0Ghz Processor
- 512MB RAM
- 128MB Video Card
- Monitor capable of 1280 x 1024
How to Connect your Computer to an HDTV or Projector
Use either a DVI or S-video cable from your computer's video card out to the HD display unit. Depending on your computers options for sound out connectivity, connect either an optical cable or a digital coaxial cable (with a mini plug adapter) in to the sound out on the card or motherboard and connect to your home theater receiver.
Home Theatre PC (HTPC)
A Home Theater PC is a computer specifically built to be connected to your HDTV and/or Home Theater Projector and surround sound receiver, allowing you to view and listen to all video, music and pictures on your home theater system! Using a computer is great way to watch HD content!
Special hardware and software solutions allow for enhanced control and a plethora of playback options. A great option for a HTPC is to include a TV tuner, or better, a PVR which allowis you to not only view, but record live broadcast TV, even from aset top box like shown in the picture above!
