I know many of you may already be aware of this but anyways...

When tying chrome chironomids I have had some huge success using computer static bag. Simply cut some thin strips, under wrap with a variety of colors, use the color wire you prefer, and bingo. You should have a very productive fly to fish under that indicator. One pattern that has worked for me and a few of my buddies very well is as follows...

- bright green, or forest green thread
- static bag strip
- copper wire
- copper bead
*you can also sub the two copper items with black*

Anyways, I thought I'd type this up as I'm sitting at home staring out the window at the gorgeous 20 plus deg weather!! And I'm not fishing??.... As we speak Welton is chasing 10 pound slabs somewhere in the Interior!!

Tight lines all....

Darren

Hello all... May 1st, what a great time of the year! All the interior lakes are open! some still may have ice, but its game time let the season begin. Gordy and I hit Lundbom Friday May 1st and it was a little challenging. We managed around a dozen fish but it wasn't in full swing. However, we were treated to some really nice hogs. A few nice 3-4lb trout, and two slabs 8 and 12 lbs... yes 12lbs! Gordy hooked that one and it was quite the fish, It looked like a steelhead!. Marquart down the road wasn't hot either, but its only a matter of time. Both those lakes are loaded with shrimp, and the fish were stuffed with them. Early season up until about mid-May we always seem to do well on shrimp for large fish. Anyways good luck!!.. and Ill keep in touch throughout the season. TIGHT LINES!!

Darren
